Mexico–Guadalajara Train Route Officially Announced for Jalisco

The Mexico–Guadalajara Train project continues to move forward. Federal authorities have officially announced the route for the Irapuato–Guadalajara section, which will pass through 10 municipalities in the state of Jalisco.

The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) confirmed the planned route through Jalisco. While the general corridor has now been made public, several important details—including station locations, the final engineering design, and the construction schedule—have yet to be announced.

Municipalities Along the Route

According to the SICT, the Irapuato–Guadalajara segment will pass through the following municipalities:

  • San Diego de Alejandría
  • Arandas
  • San Ignacio Cerro Gordo
  • Tepatitlán de Morelos
  • Acatic
  • Zapotlanejo
  • Tonalá
  • San Pedro Tlaquepaque
  • Guadalajara
  • Zapopan

Stations and Construction Timeline Still Pending

Although the general route has been confirmed, the SICT has not yet announced:

  • The locations of the train stations.
  • The official start date for construction.
  • The expected date the railway will begin operations.

The agency stated that this information will be released as the project progresses and noted that the route may undergo technical adjustments before construction begins.
