On the occasion of the “Day of Love and Friendship”, the travel assistance firm Allianz Partners, indicated that this celebration boosts foreign tourism in Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and San Jose del Cabo.

The company stressed in a statement that Mexico is the most popular country for US tourists traveling for Valentine’s Day, these data are the result of an analysis of nearly 900 thousand flight itineraries of travelers, which have been made during the days prior to February 14.

“Traveling is a great way to celebrate any occasion and Valentine’s Day is no exception. Of course, to ensure that nothing interrupts the fun, it is ideal to have assistance that responds and supports medical, legal, luggage loss or cancellation needs,” said Joana del Toro, deputy director of Allianz Travel, a commercial brand of Allianz Partners.

Allianz Partners also pointed out that during this February 14, the preference for international travel among the US population increased 4 percent compared to last year, for this celebration 30 percent of the scheduled trips are to destinations outside the United States and 70 percent within that country.

Mexico is the only country that places two tourist destinations in the top 10 of the most visited during Valentine’s Day, within this list are places such as; Punta Cana, Oranjestad, Montego Bay, US Virgin Islands, Liberia, Nassau and San Jose de Costa Rica.

“It should be remembered that the United States is the main source of international tourists to Mexico and is the largest international air market in the world. In this sense, the most recent data from the Ministry of Tourism of Mexico show that in 2023 more than 12.4 million US visitors arrived in Mexico by air, which represents 64 percent of the total air entries of international tourists to the country” concluded the travel assistance firm.
