If this destination on Jalisco’s Costalegre is on your bucket list, you should know that a new ferry recently inaugurated, allowing you to travel from Puerto Vallarta with a scenic tour included.
What’s the new ferry from Puerto Vallarta to Yelapa like?
Owned by the tour operator Mike’s Fishing & Tours, the new ferry from Puerto Vallarta to Yelapa is a vessel called the “Playa del Carmen,” which has a capacity for 400 passengers.
It features an air-conditioned interior with 250 seats; the rest are located on the covered deck, perfect for enjoying the sea breeze.
The new ferry from Puerto Vallarta to Yelapa departs from the Espigón pier in Marina Los Peines, very close to the airport and the El Salado Protected Natural Area.
For two hours, passengers enjoy a ride on the open sea, with views of Banderas Bay.
The vessel makes a brief stop at the Los Muertos beach pier (one of the most popular beaches in the area).
After a few minutes, it departs for Yelapa, with four hours of free time to enjoy this small fishing village, which, incidentally, can only be accessed by sea.

There are two beaches—Yelapa and Isabel—with crystal-clear waters and fine golden sand, ideal for sunbathing and cooling off in an environment surrounded by lush vegetation.
You can also stroll through the village streets and dine at one of its restaurants; visit the mouth of the Yelapa River; Enjoy paddleboarding, snorkeling, parasailing, horseback riding through the jungle, or a boat trip on the sea. You can even hike to the Yelapa (30-meter-high) and Catedral (the more distant) waterfalls.
The new ferry from Puerto Vallarta to Yelapa doesn’t depart every day, but only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
It leaves at 9:00 a.m. from the Espigón pier in Puerto Vallarta and returns from Yelapa at 4:00 p.m., arriving back at the starting point at approximately 6:00 p.m.
The regular price for the new ferry is $600 pesos for adults (12 years and older) and $300 pesos for children ages 4 to 11.

The fare includes a round-trip scenic tour and 4 hours of free time.
