State Police and Traffic Police patrols were dispatched to prevent the family of missing young man Kevin Ulises Sánchez Rodríguez from closing the road to Chapala on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 6.
Kevin Ulises, an 18-year-old student at the University of Guadalajara, disappeared on July 29, the same day his cousin Elena Janetzy was released in Tomatlán.
Relatives of Kevin Ulises sought to completely close the road to Chapala near Periférico Sur in the La Duraznera neighborhood of Tlaquepaque. However, the nine patrols from State Police and six from the Traffic Department prevented this.
In frustration, a relative of Kevin stated, “Look at how much government is here. Instead of working for the missing, for the city, for the state, they should be out searching and working to bring him back. We are not criminals; we are a desperate family, and they are sending more than 10 officers per person.”
Kevin’s mother, Susana Rodríguez, criticized the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office for suggesting that the absence of the teenage cousins was voluntary.
She added that they confirmed Kevin left his house on his own, but upon returning, he encountered a man aged 45 to 50 waiting for him. Kevin walked alongside the man with his head down.
While Elena Janetzy was released in Tomatlán on August 5, Kevin was not with her. Kevin’s mother believes that Janetzy is in shock, making it impossible for her to provide information that could help locate her cousin.
