Students from Mexico and of Mexican origin looking for a place of higher education in New Jersey may want to check out William Paterson University in Wayne.
The university was selected last month to receive a new grant from the Mexican government. It is part of Mexico’s IME Becas grant program, designed with the support of Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Institute for Mexicans Abroad to subsidize higher education or adult education for Mexican students studying abroad.
Through the program, the university can double the amount of scholarship money available by matching the consulate’s award.
George Kacenga, the university’s vice president for enrollment management, said the initial grant is $3,500 and it will be matched by the school. The scholarship money will be divided among available to students enrolling in the upcoming school year, which begins August 28.
