Guadalajara, Jalisco – Jalisco leads the generation of jobs in the country and during the first four months of the year, 40,240 new jobs were recorded, that’s almost half of all the jobs created in 2022, when 82,963 new formal jobs were registered, a figure that placed the entity as the national leader last year.

The collaborative work between the Government of Jalisco, through the General Strategic Coordination of Economic Growth and Development and the secretariats that make it up, and the private initiative has been key to achieving more than 40,000 jobs in the first four-month period of the year, a figure that represents the highest historical generation for this period in the state.

“The state of Jalisco generated 40,240 formal jobs from January to April of this year, ranking as the second entity with the highest generation of employment, only below Nuevo León. In just 4 months we created almost half of the jobs that were generated in 2022, making it the first quarter in which Jalisco generated the highest number of jobs in history,” said Roberto Arechederra Pacheco, Secretary of Economic Development.

He went on to say that the state will continue to work and give results, together with the private initiative, academia, and the government, to continue generating projects and employment opportunities for all of Jalisco.

Compared to the same period of the previous year, a greater generation of jobs was observed, going from 34,716 in the first 4 months of 2022 to 40,240 in the same period of 2023.

At the national level, from January to April, 447,395 new jobs have been created in Mexico, of which Jalisco contributed 9%, that is, 9 out of every 100 jobs created nationwide were generated in Jalisco.

In 2022, the commitment of the entity’s businessmen resulted in Jalisco becoming the leader for the generation of formal jobs.
