The Puerto Vallarta Water, Drainage, and Sewerage System (SEAPAL) issued an urgent notice regarding water shortages in more than 140 neighborhoods and residential areas of the municipality, following the rupture of a 25-year-old main water pipe.

According to a statement on its social media, SEAPAL Vallarta explained that the outage is primarily affecting the northern part of the municipality, as the damaged line connects the Radial Well to the Cerro del Machete Water Treatment Plant, a key infrastructure for the supply of drinking water.

When will water be restored in Puerto Vallarta?

According to the agency, service is expected to be restored between noon on Thursday, April 23, and the morning of Friday, April 24. This means that the affected neighborhoods began experiencing water shortages today, April 21.

They also warned in their message that the higher elevations of the city will be the last to have their water supply restored, and asked for patience from the affected population.

They also alerted that the storage tanks could run dry around 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, and recommended that residents store water in advance and use it sparingly.
