The 2026 Holy Week and Easter operation in Jalisco concluded with a toll of 44 deaths, 330 injuries, and 200 traffic accidents, reports the State Civil Protection Unit.
According to the report, eight of the deaths were due to drowning in unsupervised rivers, dams, and reservoirs, while the leading cause of fatalities was traffic-related incidents, particularly car and motorcycle accidents.
During the holiday period, 1,299 pre-hospital emergencies were also attended to, 14 rescues were carried out, and 100 forest fires and 74 structural fires were fought.
Authorities deployed 1,112 personnel and 374 units to respond to incidents and reiterated their call to the public to respect speed limits, avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, and not enter unsupervised bodies of water, in order to prevent further accidents during future holiday seasons.
