The recent rains have begun to wreak havoc in various parts of the state, not only in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area. This Sunday, three people were confirmed dead after being swept away by a stream in Tepatitlán de Morelos, but road collapses were also reported in the municipality of Hostotipaquillo.

The Jalisco State Civil Protection and Firefighters Unit (UEPCBJ) confirmed that, on the free highway from Guadalajara to Tepic, at kilometer 120, some landslides were recorded, complicating vehicle traffic in the section near the town known as Plan de Barrancas.

Municipal and state authorities were notified of the damage and began removing the materials. The Hostotipaquillo Municipal Civil Protection and Firefighters Coordination carried out the cleanup of the site; however, it has not yet been announced whether these have been resolved.

The public is urged to exercise extreme caution when traveling through the area. It is also recommended to check weather reports and official warnings before traveling on the road, avoiding, as much as possible, traveling near hills or ravines during heavy rains or landslide warnings. If possible, it is best to take alternate routes and identify safe paths in case the main road is blocked.
