Attention, Guadalajara residents! Guadalajara is preparing for a radical change in mobility with the arrival of the new autotrain, an ambitious project that promises to transform the way people get around. Here we provide all the key information about this innovative mode of transportation, from its route to travel times and the approximate opening date.

What will the route of Guadalajara’s new autotrain be?

The Guadalajara autotrain will have a strategic route designed to connect key points in the metropolitan area. The project plans to begin at Glorieta de los Niños Héroes, in the Chapultepec area, and extend to Venta del Astillero, with a crucial stop at Akron Stadium, home of the Chivas team. This route would measure 1.3 kilometers and have two stations.

This route seeks to alleviate traffic congestion on major thoroughfares such as Avenida Vallarta, one of the city’s busiest, leading up to the 2026 World Cup matches. The main objective is to facilitate access for more than 7,000 people per hour—and potentially up to 10,000—on match days, to alleviate the traffic congestion caused in the area.

How long will the auto-train trip take to get to Chivas Stadium?

The auto-train trip to Akron Stadium, home of Chivas, is estimated to take less than 2 minutes. This route is expected to bring significant benefits to the project, as currently the drive from the city center to the stadium can take more than an hour, especially on match days.

When could the auto-train open in Jalisco?

Construction is expected to begin on August 26, with pilot testing expected to begin in April 2026. The official opening is planned for May 8, exactly one month before the first World Cup match at Akron Stadium.
