A black shirt with the State Police logo, black tactical pants, black boots, and a badge hanging around his neck were the clothing a young man allegedly used to pose as a state police officer to extort and rob.
Officers from the Jalisco State Security Secretariat arrested the man in downtown Guadalajara. They also seized apparent crystal meth. It was reported that the officers were conducting surveillance at the intersection of Liceo and Morelos streets when they observed a uniformed man with a badge holder. Upon noticing the officers, he attempted to run and became aggressive when approached.
During the search carried out according to protocol, they found a total of 16 bags of apparent granulated material with the characteristics of crystal meth among his belongings. The young man attempted to identify himself as a state police officer, but once the officers ruled him out, he claimed to work for a private security company.
According to preliminary reports, the detainee’s characteristics match those of social media reports detected by intelligence services, about a young man allegedly posing as a police officer to commit robberies and extortions in various locations in Guadalajara. Identified as Ángel, 19, he was arrested and taken into custody by a Public Ministry agent.
