The Intermunicipal System of Potable Water and Sewerage Services (SIAPA) has announced temporary interruptions in the water supply due to infrastructure work aimed at improving the supply in the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara.
Initial Work and Restoration
The initial phase of the project began on Friday, November 15, at 7:00 a.m., involving the installation of valves and the interconnection of the Zapotillo and El Salto-Calderón-San Gaspar systems with Potable Water Treatment Plant Number Three. The main objective is to incorporate new water sources and ensure a more efficient supply for the region. After completing these activities and conducting the necessary tests, the water service began to be gradually restored over the weekend and was fully normalized by Monday, November 18.
Upcoming Adjustments
SIAPA has also announced the activation of new pumping equipment on Friday, November 22. This equipment will connect the old Chapala system and the Las Pintas pumping plant to further reinforce the water supply in the city. However, this adjustment will result in water cuts affecting 873 neighborhoods in the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara, including 204 neighborhoods in the municipality of Guadalajara. The water cuts will begin on Friday, November 22, at 7:00 a.m.
Restoration Timeline
Once the necessary tests are completed, the water supply will be gradually restored and is expected to be fully normalized by Monday, November 25.
