The Wolfshager Hexenbrut is a dance troop. There is no connection to any religious group whatsoever.
It is a dance troop put on by men and women all over the world to celebrate the season. This particular time they decided on a Witchcraft theme.
These groups of witches get together to commemorate Walpurgis, a holiday celebrating fertility. Celebrations include lots of dancing, food, and drinking, which normally occurs every year on a specific date.
The celebrations include choreographed dances performed by the participants. In the video below, the dance is known as “Schüttel deinen Speck”, in English: Shake Your Bacon, by German Reggae-Pop artist, Peter Fox.
The “Witch Dance” is a choreographed dance, first performed by the women of Wolfshager Hexenbrut (in English; The Wolf Hunter’s Coven), located in Wolfshagen in Harz, Germany.
What is the meaning of the witch dance?
“Perhaps because the area was already steeped in legend and superstition, witches later began to gather at the place called “Witch Dance” for nighttime ceremonies. Celebrating and improving their “abilities”, they would feast and dance throughout the night.
