The hero without a cape gave his life in exchange for saving a minor who was drowning on Los Muertos beach in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.
A waiter died on the afternoon of May 10 after he entered the sea to rescue a girl who was swept away by a wave at the so-called Playa de los Muertos, in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.
According to local media, the man who lost his life after a heroic act was identified as César Guadalupe Chávez Medrano, 48, a neighbor of the Ixtapa delegation.
The events took place in front of the restaurant of the Hotel El Camarón Azul, where, according to witnesses, “the man did not think twice” and set out to rescue the girl “caught” by a wave.
At the site, security elements arrived, the same ones that managed to recover the body of the worker from the Sunset restaurant, but they no longer managed to revive him.
The body of the ” hero waiter ” was transferred to the facilities of the Forensic Medical Service, where a legal autopsy was performed to determine the causes of death.
The Government of Puerto Vallarta expressed its condolences to Medrano’s family and friends and highlighted his courage and solidarity.
“With deep sorrow, today we bid farewell to a man who gave his life to save that of a little girl, this administration, which I lead, recognizes the solidarity of César Guadalupe Chávez Medrano,” the Government said in a statement after the events that occurred on 10 May.
According to local media, the burial expenses will be borne by the Municipal Public Services; while the DIF of Puerto Vallarta will pay the funeral expenses, and Social Development will provide space, furniture and necessary supplies.
“Today we are left with a hero who will always be remembered by all Vallartans,” said the Government.
