This year the world renowned pilot Ari Vatanen will be present.
With the participation of 40 competitors from more than 15 countries, from October 16 to 22, the Carrera Panamericana will tour 18 municipalities of Durango and will leave an economic spill of approximately one million 500 thousand pesos for the entity, highlighted the Undersecretary of Promotion of the Tourism Secretary, Elvira Silerio, at a press conference.
On the 70th Anniversary of the Carrera Panamericana, the competitors will tour the municipalities of Vicente Guerrero, Nombre de Dios, Durango, Pueblo Nuevo, Canatlán, San Juan del Río, Nazas, Lerdo and Gómez Palacio, thus returning to the original route that covers more of 300 kilometers, while the speed sections will take place initially in Santiago Papasquiaro, Santa María del Oro, Indé and Rodeo.
Carlos Cordero, director of this international event, announced that Ari Vatanen, world rally champion, will be attended, as well as the pace card of Formula 1, Michael Jordan Junior.
The Carrera Panamericana will take place every year in a large part of the Mexican territory; It will start in Oaxaca, with a route that includes the states of Veracruz, Mexico City, Querétaro, Morelia, Guanajuato, and Zacatecas.
This edition will be experienced in a very different way, due to the contingency currently being experienced in Mexico by COVID-19, so live streaming will be carried out through the official website and social networks, where you can see the departure of the vehicles and the daily race.
Present at the press conference was the mayor of the capital, Jorge Salum del Palacio, Rafael Sarmiento, undersecretary of Tourism Planning and Development; Fernando Martínez, director of Municipal Tourism and Anakaren Ávila, director of the Sports Institute, who invited citizens to observe the passage of vehicles from their homes, in order to avoid congregations.
