A mysterious vigilante has drawn attention after several criminals were found tied to posts, beaten, and displayed with signs accusing them of theft.

The cases have been reported in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, where at least five men were found under similar circumstances over a 10-day period.

Some celebrate these actions, while others question his methods.

As the popularity of the so-called “Batman of Lagos” grows, authorities have warned that the assaults committed against the alleged criminals also constitute crimes and must be investigated.

They also pointed out that, although the men are accused of theft, it is the responsibility of the institutions to administer justice, not for private citizens to act on their own.

The case of the “Batman of Lagos de Moreno” began on June 13, when a young man was found tied up on a street in the municipality.

The man had some bruises. Next to him was a sign identifying him as a suspected criminal. The vehicle he allegedly stole was also there, as evidence of his accusation.

Less than a week later, on June 17, the ‘Batman of Lagos de Moreno’ struck again. Two young men, approximately 18 years old, were found tied to a lamppost with gray tape and gagged.

Both had the same characteristics as in the previous cases. The motorcycle they had allegedly stolen was also present.

On social media, some people recognize and support the work of the supposed anonymous vigilante. However, from a legal perspective, this vigilante’s actions are being questioned due to the way he administers justice.

Lagos de Moreno, a municipality marked by violence

In 2023, Lagos de Moreno made national headlines for a case that shocked the country. Five young men disappeared, and one hypothesis suggested they were forced to fight each other until they died.

To date, the case remains unresolved. However, a video released at the time, allegedly showing the missing young people, shocked the public.

In Jalisco, the most prominent criminal organization is the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), a group that is allegedly trying to maintain control of Lagos de Moreno against other criminal organizations attempting to operate in the region.

Recently, mothers searching for their missing loved ones reported the discovery of skeletal remains in the municipality and requested the intervention of authorities to identify the possible victims.
