Heavy rains during the early morning hours of Wednesday caused flooding in the area where the access road to the Amado Nervo Bridge is under construction, leaving hundreds of residents of the Verde Vallarta neighborhood isolated.
According to local residents, the water reached levels close to one meter high, preventing people from leaving for work, school, and other daily activities.
Although some public transportation vehicles managed to partially cross the affected area, the water level became critical in several places.
Residents indicated that the expansion work on Avenida Federación may have contributed to the water accumulation, as the leveling and filling work altered the natural flow of rainwater.
The flooding occurred between the intersection with Highway 544 and the main entrance to the neighborhood, causing difficulties for drivers, motorcyclists, and pedestrians trying to leave the area during the early morning hours.
Images shared by residents show large areas covered in water, as well as the direct impact on the road leading to the construction site of the Amado Nervo Bridge, one of the most important infrastructure projects connecting Puerto Vallarta and Banderas Bay.
Given the situation, residents have asked the authorities and the companies in charge of the project to implement urgent measures to ensure proper drainage and prevent further rainfall from isolating the families of Verde Vallarta again during the current rainy season.
