Chapala kicks off “Happy Holidays 2026” operation for Holy Week

In anticipation of the Easter holiday period, the “Happy Holidays 2026” operation was launched with the participation of municipal, state, and federal authorities. This operation aims to guarantee the safety of visitors and residents of the Chapala boardwalk area and its surroundings.

“Today we are launching the ‘Happy Holidays’ operation for Easter 2026, with the firm commitment to offer security, assistance, and a memorable experience to the families, visitors, and tourists who honor us with their presence,” stated the mayor of Chapala, Alejandro Aguirre Curiel, during the program’s launch event.

The mayor emphasized that this is one of the most important times of the year for the municipality, which led to coordination among various agencies to ensure a safe environment for the community.

During his address, the head of the Jalisco State Security Secretariat, Juan Pablo Hernández González, emphasized that the agency is prepared to safeguard both the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (AMG) and the rest of the state during the holiday period.

He noted that for this purpose, more than 7,000 security personnel will be deployed in the state’s main tourist destinations, including beaches, mountains, Pueblos Mágicos (Magical Towns), and areas with religious celebrations. He also stressed that this operation will extend to all municipalities along the Chapala Lakeside.

The official emphasized that the coordinated efforts between municipal, state, and metropolitan police, as well as Civil Protection personnel, medical services, the National Guard, and the Ministry of Defense, will ensure safe holidays for everyone.

Alejandro Aguirre Curiel expressed his gratitude for the support of the authorities present and the backing of the Governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus Navarro, for the benefit of the Chapala Lakeside region.

During this peak tourist season, the mayor invited residents to responsibly enjoy the region’s natural beauty, cuisine, and traditions, always heeding the recommendations of the authorities.

He also emphasized that, thanks to inter-institutional coordination, the municipality is ready for the challenges and opportunities that the 2026 World Cup will bring to the region.

The event concluded with the official start of the operation, led by the authorities, followed by the deployment of patrols, emergency units, and official vehicles along the boardwalk and main avenue of Chapala, as well as the participation of helicopters that will reinforce surveillance efforts on the shores of Lake Chapala and other tourist destinations in the state.

The launch of the operation was also attended by Brigadier General Julio César Islas Sánchez, commander of the 15th Military Zone, and Brigadier General José Luis Martínez Rojas, coordinator of the National Guard in the state.
