The Norwegian Bliss cruise ship arrived at the port on Wednesday with 4,300 passengers on board, port and municipal authorities reported.
Juan Pablo Martínez Torres, manager of Prosperity, Economic Development, and Tourism for the municipality, welcomed the crew and stated that the ship’s arrival “marks the reactivation” and sends a clear message of confidence in the destination at both the national and international levels.
He added that this demonstrates that Puerto Vallarta “is prepared, a safe destination, and ready to receive thousands of vacationers arriving via cruise ships.”
During the last week of February, several vessels were unable to enter the port due to the violent events of February 22nd, in which more than 200 vehicles and 60 businesses were burned by organized crime following the capture and death of Nemesio Oseguera “El Mencho” in the municipality of Tapalpa, Jalisco.
The Norwegian Bliss was greeted with mariachis, and was also attended by council members, officials, and business leaders from the tourism sector, as well as personnel from the National Port System Administration.
