The Jalisco Attorney General’s Office confirmed the kidnapping and subsequent murder of businessman José Adrián Corona Radillo, of the Hermanos Corona Group.
According to authorities, the man was intercepted by armed individuals on December 27th while traveling on the highway to Puerto Vallarta with his partner and children.
The incident occurred in the municipality of Atenguillo, at the intersection known as Volcanes, on the road to Talpa de Allende.
Although the assailants took personal belongings from the family and kidnapped the businessman, there is no record of calls or ransom demands in the following days.
Adrián Corona’s body was found on the side of the road, near the site of the attack, and showed signs of blunt force trauma, as well as gunshot wounds.
The Jalisco Attorney General’s Office stated that the businessman’s body was released to his family on January 1st.
Through social media, colleagues and acquaintances of Adrián Corona have expressed their condolences, while local media outlets report that Grupo Corona will hold a posthumous tribute this Sunday.
“Don Adrián will be remembered for his generosity and vision, especially for having provided employment to so many women, contributing significantly to the development of our community,” wrote the Association of Professional and Business Women of Jalisco.
