The rise of technology has brought with it a variety of benefits, but also dangers and concerns, such as identity theft and the alarming development of AI. In this context, the Mexican government implemented, as of yesterday, a more precise identification format: the Biometric CURP, the new version of the traditional Unique Population Registry Code (Clave Única de Registro de Población). Here we tell you all the details for processing it in Guadalajara.
This new version of the CURP will consist of a photograph, iris scan, fingerprints, and an electronic signature, making it an unforgeable document valid on multiple digital platforms. This past October 16, Guadalajara joined the first cities in the country to offer this CURP format.
As is known, government agencies could begin accepting the Biometric CURP as an official identification document, instead of the INE (National Institute of Statistics) or passport. Therefore, it’s better to be punctual than out of date. Below are the locations in Guadalajara where you can apply for one:
State Civil Registry Offices.
We also remind you that the Llave MX platform is available, where all procedures are online. Those wishing to obtain their Biometric CURP must submit the following documentation:
Updated birth certificate.
Valid official identification (INE or passport).
Traditional CURP validated by Renapo.
Recent proof of address (maximum three months old).
An active email address.
