The 10th Lerma-Chapala Artisanal and Cultural Gastronomic Showcase, which was postponed on May 25 due to a downpour and unusual rains that caused extensive property damage in the region, now has a new date.

The event will take place on June 8 in La Calzada Jacona-Zamora, where a large participation from communities in the region is expected.

This showcase is sponsored by the Michoacán Ministry of Culture, in conjunction with the municipal government of Jacona, as part of a strategy to strengthen the community network by promoting popular cultural expressions.

Which municipalities are participating?

During the event, more than 20 municipalities and towns in western Michoacán will gather to share their culinary and artisanal traditions. Participating towns include Jacona, Zamora, Ario, La Cantera, Ixtlán, Chavinda, Tlazazalca, Tangamandapio, Tangancícuaro, Ecuandureo, La Piedad, Jiquilpan, Cotija, Villamar, Purépero, Cojumatlán, Tarecuato, and Pajacuarán.

Who can attend?

It was announced that attendees will be able to enjoy a wide range of regional dishes, snacks, desserts, cheeses, and products made by local artisans. In addition, artistic presentations and cultural activities are expected to enrich the visitor experience.

The event is open to the public and admission is free. Therefore, we encourage all citizens to participate and enjoy this celebration that pays tribute to the traditions of the western part of the state.

Organizers thanked the participating communities for their willingness and emphasized their commitment to keeping this initiative alive, despite the setbacks caused by the weather.
