Life is full of powerful combinations: sand and sea, day and night, love and friendship, although if you are from Guadalajara you will know that there is a combination that never fails, it is a torta de carnitas and its corresponding sauce to dip it in.
Tortas ahogadas are part of the snacks that are frequently consumed in Guadalajara and other parts of Jalisco. And although there is the eternal debate about whether they are eaten in a bag or on a plate, the reality is that their flavor and preparation are part of the gastronomic tradition of the Pearl of Guadalajara.
On the occasion of the Municipal Day of the Torta Ahogada, the Government of Guadalajara announced through its social networks that they will give away thousands of tortas ahogadas to people who come to the Historic Center of Guadalajara to celebrate this typical dish.
According to the organizers, this event will have more than 35 exhibitors, who will offer their different versions of the torta ahogada free of charge.
In the previous edition, the festival brought together around 50 thousand attendees, so a similar number is expected this year.
See you downtown!
The date to celebrate the Municipal Day of the Torta Ahogada is next Sunday, September 8th at the Paseo Alcalde Walkway starting at 10:00 a.m., so we recommend you arrive on time to ensure your torta.
If you still don’t have plans for this Sunday, don’t hesitate to go downtown with your friends or family to enjoy this delicious dish from Guadalajara and other snacks.
