According to the book ‘Las Mujeres del Narco’, Marcela Rubiales was a long-time partner of the founder of the Guadalajara Cartel and was later replaced by Zoila Flor when Aguilar’s stepdaughter decided to dedicate herself fully to music and acting.
“Ernesto Fonseca had the power and connections to boost the careers of singers and actresses, he had contacts in Mexico and a lot of money, he opened the doors to Antonio Aguilar, he was very famous,” the journalist Anabel Hernandez narrates in her book.
Ernesto’s bodyguard, Ramón Lira, said that before working for the drug trafficker he was already friends with the performer of ‘Lamberto Quintero’s corrido’, they even went to palenques, where they gave him a place to sit and he always entered through the door of the artists.
“Lira claims that between 1981 and 1982, when he began his work as an escort for the drug trafficker, ‘Don Neto’ and Antonio Aguilar were already compadres, ‘once there was a palenque in Guadalajara we went to see Antonio Aguilar,’ Lira said. ‘Don Neto’ arrived with his armed guards, he did not enter through the general public entrance, but through the door for artists,” the Mexican writer relates in her work.
José Pascual Antonio sang to the deceased Lamberto Quintero at the request of Fonseca Carrillo, who was grateful to him for being the person who supported him when he started out in drug trafficking.
“Antonio Aguilar sang corridos like that of Lamberto Quintero, in homage to the drug trafficker Lamberto Quintero Payán, brother of another powerful capo, Ernesto Quintero Payán, both were originally from Badiraguato and were uncles of Rafael Caro Quintero, ‘Don Neto’ owed his beginnings to him, Pedro Avilez and Lamberto in drug trafficking,” said Anabel Hernández.

Ernesto Fonseca was present in the recordings of the project that came out in 1987, but it was filmed in 1985 when he was still free. Anabel mentions that he was the one charged with carrying weapons and some objects to Antonio Aguilar’s ranch, where he was developing.
“Officially the film was released in 1987, but ‘Don Neto’s’ bodyguards claim that before his arrest, in April 1985, they helped him take cars and weapons to a ranch in Moyahua, Zacatecas, owned by Antonio Aguilar. They would be used in film production,” said Hernández.
