Expat Charged with Murder in Ajijic, Lake Chapala

The investigative acts carried out by the Special Regional Prosecutor’s Office of District V based in Chapala allowed obtaining evidence against Joseph Angelo A. for his probable responsibility in the death of a man that occurred in that municipality, for which he is already facing criminal proceedings.


The detainee, who is of foreign nationality, will remain for one year in informal preventive detention, as a precautionary measure imposed at the request of the Public Ministry.

The events occurred on October 7, at approximately 8:30 p.m., when said individual was in the company of another male, inside a house located on Álvaro Obregón street, in Ajijic.


At one point, Joseph Angelo A. pulled out a firearm with which he allegedly shot his companion, who was fatally wounded.


Because the events were reported, elements of the Municipal Public Security Police Station went to the site and captured the individual.


The Regional Special Prosecutor’s Office took charge of the investigations and managed to prove with evidence the probable responsibility of Joseph Angelo A. in the commission of the crime of aggravated homicide and therefore prosecuted him.
