“The tourist who arrives here in the capital will leave an economic spill and wherever he wants to go, be it to San Blas or Compostela,” commented deputy Luis Alberto Zamora Romero, who voted for this assignment.
The project was put on the table by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador himself, who on a tour of Bahía de Banderas had commented that “to develop the north and interior of the state, the airport would be expanded so that tourism enters through Nayarit and not just for Vallarta.”

It is important to mention that the project is already formally contemplated and an investment of about 2.1 billion pesos will be made for the remodeling of the “Amado Nervo” Airport in the capital of Nayarit.
The airport will have its runway expanded to be able to receive aircraft of higher category and capacity, as well as a larger terminal building with a greater number of slots, and will build a new control tower.
