The Departments of State, Justice, and the Treasury of the United States identified Audias Flores Silva, ‘ El Jardinero ‘, as one of the main leaders of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel ( CJNG ), for which they launched a reward of 5 million dollars to whoever collaborates in his capture.

In addition, an accusation was opened against him and, through the Office of Foreign Assets Control ( OFAC ), he was included in the list of designated persons, so his assets in that country will be frozen and anyone is prohibited. commercial or financial entity enter into negotiations with him.

According to the US authorities, this is the fourteenth action against the CJNG, a group that was designated by OFAC on April 8, 2015, along with its leader, Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, ‘El Mencho,’ for playing an important role in the international drug trafficking.

In a statement, they recalled that the CJNG is a violent Mexican drug trafficking organization responsible for trafficking a significant proportion of fentanyl and other deadly drugs that enter the United States.

They said that in previous actions, OFAC designated a wide range of companies and individuals linked to the CJNG and its close ally, the previously designated ‘Los Cuinis’ drug trafficking organization.

According to these authorities, in the case of Flores Silva, he is identified as the leader who controls much of the CJNG’s territory along the Pacific coast of Mexico, including the state of Nayarit.

They added that this subject traffics massive amounts of opioids and cocaine, “represents a great threat to the United States.”

The indictment against him was presented before a grand jury of the District Court for the District of Columbia, USA, for various crimes including conspiracy to distribute cocaine and heroin with the intention, knowledge, and existence of reasonable grounds to believe that such substances would be illegally imported into this North American country; as well as the use of a firearm to promote a drug trafficking conspiracy.

They recalled that this subject previously served a five-year prison sentence in the United States in connection with a conviction for drug trafficking.

After his release, he returned to Mexico, and in 2016 Mexican authorities arrested Flores Silva after he was accused of orchestrating an ambush in April 2015 against Mexican police officers in Soyatlán, Jalisco.

Flores Silva was later released from Mexican prison after fighting his charges in Mexican courts.

According to the US authorities, the action against Flores Silva was the result of close and continuous collaboration with the Los Angeles Field Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Division of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). from the Department of Homeland Security.

“OFAC is committed to working with our interagency partners to target all facets of Mexico’s most important drug trafficking organizations, whose members continue to flood our streets with fentanyl and other deadly drugs,” said OFAC Director Andrea Gacki.
