How does it work?
TAG RACE IN TEAMS OF 6 OR 12 PAINANIS
The Pescado de Moctezuma is a relay race that can be run in 2 different formats: with a team of 12 people or a team of 6 people.
The objective of the race is to relieve a “fish” (chip) from the coast of Veracruz to the ancient city of Teotihuacán.
It seeks to honor the legend according to which the painanis (messengers of the Aztec Emperor) brought fresh fish to Moctezuma from the coast of Veracruz running
WHAT DOES IT CONSIST OF?
During PESCADO DE MOCTEZUMA there will be CONTROLLED segments and OPEN segments.
In the CONTROLLED segments, the route will be segmented into different stages (between 5 and 15 km approximately). The runner or painani in turn will carry the “fish” in the stage that corresponds to him while the rest of the team goes ahead in the truck / van to reach the control point where the relay will take place. These stages will be assigned to each painani by the organization.
In the OPEN segments, the painani in turn will be accompanied by his team in the van and the distance to run for each painani will be defined by the team.
CAR
The van is a crucial part of Pescado de Moctezuma and should be considered as one more member of the team. During the race it will become a place where your team will eat, sleep, travel, laugh and cry. The van will be an anecdote generator long after the race is over.
In the case of teams of 12 painanis, they must bring 2 vans so that they can all travel comfortably and achieve a better distribution. Teams of 6 painanis must only carry 1 van.
It is mandatory that each registered van has at least 6 seat belts and 7 in case of carrying a driver (other than painani).
- In some parts of the race, the relay exchange will have to be done only in the places established to do it
- In the free part, the car will be able to go to the side of the corridor so that the exchange can be made when the team decides
