Zihuatanejo de Azueta, Guerero.- The governor of Guerrero, Héctor Astudillo Flores, and the general director of Fonatur, Rogelio Jiménez Pons Gómez, held a meeting with investors to present the collaboration programs for the development of the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo tourist corridor, for sustainable and inclusive development that generates economy, employment and well-being in this beach binomial.

In his message, Astudillo Flores highlighted the important progress that the municipality has made in combating the Covid-19 pandemic, overcoming a stage of increase in cases in previous months, but did not change the course of development in tourism and security. .

 “There is great potential in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, things have gone well, the pandemic has stopped us, it is a reality, we are recovering activity, there is a sensitive recovery in air movement, flights are returning. It continues to be a very attractive pairing and the potential in this partial plan is illustrative that it requires a great alliance between all, “said Astudillo Flores.

The security problems placed Guerrero five years ago in the first places of insecurity, «and we are currently in tenth place in the country, we have advanced and I am aware as governor that there are problems, but we have advanced, without a doubt, today is another circumstance ».

Astudillo Flores highlighted the potable water work being carried out in Zihuatanejo with a joint investment of 140 million pesos between Conagua, the state government, and the city council, to solve the problem of water supply for the next 25 years.

“Water, security, planning and investment, I believe that we are on a route that can be walked,” said Astudillo Flores before investors and hotel businessmen of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, held in a well-known hotel in this tourist development, with whom he reiterated his commitment in reinforcing security with the support of the commanders of the Navy and National Defense.

“We have to close ranks, what Fonatur does is very important, I am in my role as governor, I insist, Covid-19 did not change our course, it encouraged us,” said Astudillo Flores.

In his message, the general director of Fonatur, Rogelio Jiménez Pons Gómez, pointed out that Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo has all the elements to consolidate itself as an important development pole, for which he expressed that the commitment by the Federal Government is to continue working with the State Government and the Municipality, as well as the private sector so that these development plans are crystallized and follow up on all this type of work.

«The schemes that were proposed here must be followed up, count, Mr. Governor, that we are going to deal with the federal government to bring what is important, the resources, we have to move to a more proactive stage and inject more promotion so that on the grounds that are available, investments are made, ”said Jiménez Pons.

During this meeting, the collaboration programs for the development of the Ixtapa – Zihuatanejo tourist corridor were presented, which seeks to attract a large number of tourists that benefit society and its group through this important economic movement of this beach corridor, said businessman Miguel González Bernal, President of Grupo Médano.

González Bernal said that the vision of the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo tourist corridor as a single integral destination that initially comprises an area of ​​10,352 hectares with about 40 kilometers of coastline and could be expanded in the future as a third Riviera in our country.
