The State Government also announces that it is preparing for the application of the vaccine against COVID-19

Without specifying the cost of the investment, the Government of Jalisco announced that 60 thousand antigen tests have already been acquired for the detection of coronavirus COVID-19, which will serve to find contagion of the virus, mainly, in places within the Entity where there are no laboratories for the identification of cases by means of PCR tests.

The test, explained the coordinator of the Social Cabinet Bárbara Casillas, works by detecting a specific protein of the coronavirus (known as S or spike), which gives certainty of the identification of active infections through a test whose results are obtained in 15 minutes.

The tests, he pointed out, have already been validated by both the Ministry of Health and the University of Guadalajara (UdeG) through the University Center for Health Sciences (CUCS), demonstrating high specificity (100%) and sensitivity (76 %).

“These tests are performed like PCR with a swab in the nose or throat, the trained personnel extracts the sample, puts it in a cartridge similar to the one used for rapid tests and from there in 15 minutes they tell us (the result). With these 60 thousand tests, we will be able to reach and strengthen regions of the State where we have not done tests, but without a doubt, this will help us strengthen ”, said the coordinator at a press conference.

During the said announcement, it was reported that the purchase of the tests was included in the investment of 549 thousand pesos through which five new virus detection modules will also be installed in the municipalities of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Cihuatlán, Autlán de Navarro, Ameca, and Lagos de Moreno, in which antigen tests will be applied.

“Since the first PCR laboratory that we inaugurated, we have continued to strengthen the diagnostic network, there are already 10 laboratories that are operating in the university network,” added Ricardo Villanueva, rector general of the UdeG.

At the press conference, it was also announced that it will be through the Radar Jalisco strategy that the vaccine against COVID -19 is applied in the State, once it is ready and begins to be distributed among the population, as reported by tomorrow state authorities and the University of Guadalajara (UdeG).

“Our state becomes once again the first state in the Republic to start the preparation of all the logistics construction that is needed to apply the vaccine against COVID-19,” said the governor, who indicated that it will be done through Radar because it already has the necessary equipment for its conservation, as well as the necessary organization to identify the distribution and application lines.
