Creation of Tijuana monorail proposed

The objective is to energize the crosswalks and increase the tourist attraction of the city. 

Tijuana, Baja California, on July 23, 2020.- With the aim of improving development and mobility in the city, a project submitted to the Tijuana Economic Development Secretariat (Sedeti) that contemplates the creation of the first monorail in Tijuana, which would help to stimulate crosswalks and increase the tourist attraction of the city.

“Although it is true that the project is under analysis, this action, which would represent a significant investment, could strengthen ties with the United States and other countries that visit Tijuana for tourism purposes throughout the year, which would also serve to support local trade. ”, Indicated the head of the Sedeti, Arturo Pérez Behr.

They propose routes and stations for the Tijuana monorail

This project, which is under review, includes a 10.28-kilometer route with three routes and 13 stations established in high-traffic points such as the Centro area, Agua Caliente Boulevard and La Presa, areas that due to their population density would be favored.

Route 1 is included within the downtown area, making a route from the International line to ConstituciĂłn avenue and will be made up of the Pedwest, Reloj monumental – RevoluciĂłn and ConstituciĂłn – Calle 10 stations, representing a length of 2.10 kilometers.

Route number 2 will cover a 10.70 kilometer journey from ConstituciĂłn avenue to Clinica No. 27, passing through seven stations which are; Torre Agua Caliente, CuauhtĂ©moc, Calete, Campestre, Ermita, Carousel and Clinica 27; the last destination.

On the other hand, Route 3 will be shorter and will go from Clinic No.27 to La Presa Abelardo L. Rodríguez and will be made up of stations; Los Pinos, De las Presas avenue and La Presa, covering a distance of 5.48 kilometers.

For the municipal president, Arturo González Cruz, closeness to the population is very important, which is why he welcomes the presentation of these types of projects that are focused on improving the development of the city, a clear sign that everyone is working today for Tijuana and for the common good.

The local government reiterates the commitment to carry out projects that represent a benefit for all and continue to attend to citizen proposals, which is why it invites everyone to participate today in Tijuana in activities that generate representative change in the region.
